| DRY GINGER  During 1977-78 we had successfully supported
the ginger growers of the state by effectively procuring
dry ginger for exports and for sales through our Delhi
branch. During subsequent years we exported dry ginger to
Egypt, Iraq, Europe etc. Due to unfavourable market
conditions, no exports could be made during 1988 to 1993.
During
1993-94 we sold 75 MT valuing Rs. 25 lakhs. In the year 1996-97 the
Federation procured 45 tons Dry Ginger worth Rs. 18 lakhs
and sold 14 MT for Rs. 5.5 lakhs in the internal market
and exported 12 tons for Rs. 7 lakhs to the Gulf
countries. In the year 1997-98 the Federation procured 33
tons Dry Ginger valued at Rs. 14 lakhs and sold 30 MT for
Rs. 26 lakhs................ |
| ARECANUT In order to extend marketing support to the arecanut growers of Kasargode district which produces the best quality of arecanut in the country we started an exclusive branch for arecanut procurement in Kasargod during the year 1992-93. Within a small span of time the branch has achieved remarkable progress in arecanut business. We are selling arecanut to buyers of Punjab, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Delhi etc. and thus were able to give support to the arecanut growers of the state in general and of Kasargod district in particular. We sold 375 tones valuing Rs. 122 lakhs during 1994-95 and 456 tons valuing Rs. 288 lakhs during 1995-96. During 1996-97 the Federation procured 437 tons Arecanut for Rs. 317 lakhs and sold 478 tons worth Rs. 346 lakhs. The corresponding figures for 1997-98 are 527 tons for rs. 404 lakhs and 557 tons for Rs. 440 lakhs. |
| CLOVES During 1995-96 Government of Kerala entrusted Marketfed the procurement of Cloves under the Market Intervention Scheme. Against the target of 50 MT we could procure only 5 MT as the price of Cloves in the open market increased above the MIS level. Trade enquiries are solicited from genuine and prosperous buyers of domestic and international markets. |
